Dr. Domicele Jonauskaite acts as an expert for Crayola’s Global Color Vote campaign !
Crayola has released the results of its first Global Color Vote, conducted in 183 countries. In the United States, Cerulean Blue was named top color, ranking first in 46 of 50 states.
Dr. Domicele Jonauskaite has been advising Crayola and was quoted, explaining that : “Blue is liked because it is reminiscent of clear water and blue sky, all very positive natural phenomena”. She added that cultural context also plays a role in shaping color preferences: “In cultures where red carries celebratory significance or where lavender fields dominate the landscape, these associations might weigh more strongly in shaping preferences”.
The findings underline the emotional and cultural connections people form with colors worldwide.
